Layers Of Sunflowers
Layers of Sunflowers

On Columbus Day 2018 I decided to sail on over to the local sunflower farm. I was hoping for a killer sunset as there were broken clouds in the sky. As I pulled into the parking area for the sunflower fields all looked good, it was everything I had hoped for. But as soon as I paid my admission fee the sun went behind the clouds and never reappeared. But I was able to play around with the sunflowers for several hours before it was time to head home.

Codorus State Park

On a surprisingly cool summer evening I headed up to Codorus State Park in Pennsylvania to see what shots I could find. I ended up having to wait until the sun set to find anything interesting. But with the nearly full moon rising in the east, I found some interesting looks.

Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge

I was recently asked why I travel all the way to Bombay Hook NWR when there are so many birding spots closer to home. It stopped me for a moment, after all, Bombay Hook is 2 hours away from home and there are several tolls along the way. I thought about it but did not have an immediate answer. Sure, the density of birds is greater there then anywhere else I’ve been in the state of Maryland. But if that was all surely I could break even in “birdiness” by going more often to closer locations. It must be more than that. So I got up early the next morning at 3am and headed for Bombay Hook.

Grand Prismatic Spring or The Hill You Rode In On

The other day I wrote about Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Prismatic Spring. I’m going to write more about my visit to the Grand Prismatic Spring today. If you have been following my blog you know the hardest thing I’ve ever done was the Virgin River Narrows hike in Zion National Park. Before that hike the hardest thing I had ever done was climbing the hill behind the Grand Prismatic Spring off the Fairy Falls Trail. First off I will show the picture I captured from the top of the hill…
